Tiny Desk Radio debuts on Public Radio

Tiny Desk Concerts will be available on the radio!

Since its inception in 2008, Tiny Desk Concerts have captured audiences with their intimate, stripped-down performances. Now, NPR Music is expanding this unique musical experience with the debut of Tiny Desk Radio.

The new one-hour weekly program, set to premiere on WAER 88.3 on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m., will feature three complete concert recordings, along with exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes stories that reveal the inspiration behind the music.

In an interview about the show, co-host Anamaria Sayer explained, “There’s a really special nature to the audio—the mixes, the raw performances—that we have. Taking something that people already love and making it accessible on the radio is the natural next step.” Sayer further added that her goal is to feature artists who bring a fresh, authentic sound to the series, offering listeners a chance to experience music in an entirely new way.

NPR Music’s decision to transition Tiny Desk Concerts to radio is part of a broader effort to adapt digital content for traditional broadcast, meeting the evolving demands of its audience. “Public radio has long been a space for exploration and discovery,” Sayer noted. “Our show will provide not only incredible performances but also the stories and inspirations behind them.”
