Construction is being reduced as the Department of Transportation focuses on mitigating traffic jams around the New York State Fair.

Nearly 900,000 visitors from across the state are expected to travel to the fair outside Syracuse.

Central New York Commuters have been dealing with I-81-related construction delays on all major highways for months. But the DOT suspended lane closures that reduced traffic to one lane on Interstates 81, 481, and 690 as well as state routes 695 and 481.

The DOT has coordinated each highway to have at least two lanes open in each direction during the fair, which runs through Labor Day.
