The Central New York community is being asked to help the Syracuse Orchestra choose a new music director as its season gets underway in two weeks. Lawrence Loh wrapped up his 10-year contract last month. Six finalists hope to succeed him, and one of them is being introduced later this month at the orchestra’s Casual Series at St. Paul’s Church in Syracuse. Audiences will provide feedback on the candidates after each performance during the season.

The Masterworks series opens September 19 with Organ Extraordinaire and wraps up with Cello Concerto May 9. Musicians also perform several other concerts in the orchestra’s Pops, Choral, Candlelight, and Kids series, in addition to other specials.
