The Crouse Ave. ramp to I-690 eastbound just before it opened Nov. 25, 2025.

Syracuse-area commuters have a new way to access I-690 eastbound. The entrance ramp from Crouse Avenue is now open and marks the first of several new connections becoming part of the new community grid once the I-81 viaduct comes down.

Construction begins next year on the off-ramp from I-690 westbound to Burnet Avenue. Crews will build two more ramps in the future to complete the interchange. State DOT officials say it creates a new access point for those heading to or from the city’s medical and higher education centers and reduces bottlenecks. The McBride Street ramp to I-690 East is now permanently closed.
