Parents have another option for family fun in addition to the state fair this weekend. Beak and Skiff’s “Apple Grove Adventure Park” opens Saturday. Co-owner Eddie Brennan said they felt the need to add plenty of activities for kids to have fun. He said other attractions help, especially in years when apple crops are down.

“We still believe in apple growing we have 1,000 acres of apple trees here, so it's a core part of what we do here, but this is another way for us to hedge against that and also have a place where people can come and create memories as a family, regardless of whether we have apples or not,” said Brennan

To make way for the park, Beak and Skiff removed a section of their apple orchards but says they ended up planting more trees than they cut down. Visitors get a panoramic view sitting at the top of the park’s new super slide.

“It’s really an incredible feeling cause typically you don’t get the vantage point to look out over the apple trees," said Brennan.
"And this year as we’re just about to approach harvest, you really get the full scale of the entire farm."

Brennan said the super slide is outfitted for teens and parents. There’s also a zip line, a bright green tractor and a fire truck for kids to climb aboard, and a farm animal area. The Apple Adventure Park opens Saturday morning at 10am in LaFayette.
