New York’s apple producing industry is the second largest in the country, adding $1.8 billion dollars a year to the state's economy.
Governor Kathy Hochul is marking the start of fall with a new apple-themed campaign. It's called "New York State of Cider." The goal is to showcase the state's orchards, restaurants, and culinary partnerships.

“Our world-class apple growers, innovative cider makers, and vibrant rural communities have made New York a leader in hard cider production,” said Gov. Kathy Hochul. “The campaign will showcase these assets to residents and visitors from around the country while creating new opportunities for farms.”

New York boasts having more cideries than any other state, and supporting thousands of jobs. The state agriculture department says it's also building a digital guide to connect visitors with small apple businesses.
