Bruce Blakeman

Bruce Blakeman, 71, was born in Oceanside, raised in Valley Stream and lives in Atlantic Beach in Nassau County. He holds a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and a law degree from California Western School of Law. He served as a Hempstead town councilman from 2015 to 2021, as a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey during the aftermath of 9/11, and as Nassau County Executive since 2021. He says he froze property taxes in Nassau County for four consecutive years and hired 900 new police and law enforcement officers. He supports abortion access and ICE cooperation with limits on enforcement at schools, daycares and houses of worship, and he opposes sanctuary cities. In 2024 he issued an executive order barring county facilities from issuing permits to women's and girls' sports teams that include transgender players, which courts struck down. His campaign promises tax cuts and lower utility bills, and he would allow fracking and reopen nuclear plants.
