Greg Papa '84

Greg Papa is a seasoned sports broadcaster with a long-standing presence in the Bay Area.

He launched his professional career with the Indiana Pacers in 1984 before moving west to become the radio voice of the Golden State Warriors, a role he held from 1986 to 1997. Papa also called games for the Oakland Athletics from 1991 to 2003 and served as the television play-by-play announcer for the San Francisco Giants from 2004 to 2008. In 1997, he began his extended tenure with the Oakland Raiders, providing play-by-play coverage until 2018, and in 2019, he joined the San Francisco 49ers as their radio announcer.

Throughout his career, Papa has earned three California Sportscaster of the Year awards. He has co-hosted a weekday radio show on KNBR and hosted Chronicle Live on NBC Sports Bay Area.

A graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School, Papa polished his broadcasting skills at WAER, serving as sports director and calling play-by-play for Syracuse sports.
