Patrick Becher

Patrick Becher, 67, is from Syracuse and has a business administration degree from SUNY Oswego. He worked for three Syracuse mayors, including as director of administration and city budget director under Mayor Roy Bernardi. He then spent 28 years as an executive at the Mohawk Valley Water Authority, retiring in 2025. He cites 40 years of experience in public policy and fiscal stewardship, and he has never held elected office. He says the state's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act is driving up the cost of housing, energy and transportation. He opposes energy mandates, including the electric-vehicle sales requirements, and wants lower taxes and regulations. His affordability proposal would eliminate the state's 4% sales tax on used vehicles. He also supports law enforcement and opposes bail reform.
