How much can solar power help our communities and New York State provide the electricity needed by our residents and businesses? Solar installations can take on many different forms – panels on a rooftop, community solar projects, or much larger utility-grade solar farms.
On this First Episode of Deeper Shade of Green, we examine the state of solar power and the pace of its adoption with Marguerite Wells, Executive Director of ACE, the Alliance for Clean Energy. You might have heard that New York lawmakers adopted the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) to aid in the uptake of solar and other renewable energy. Plus, Washington's Inflation Reduction Act has incentives. Local communities have also considered solar projects – with a mix of support and opposition.
Where are we with solar power adoption? What is the promise of solar to a transition away from fossil fuels? And, what factors are getting in the way? Plus, what considerations might cause people to change their minds and behaviors on the technology … all on this inaugural episode of Deeper Shade of Green.
