Here's how New York State is planning for future energy needs

WAER's environmental podcast Deeper Shade of Green with Dr. Chris Bolt

New York's energy needs are growing and it's NYSERDA's job to have a plan to manage it. The state authority is trying to balance the reliability of power with other goals, such as affordability, capacity of the electricity grid, and ongoing plans to move power generation away from fossil fuels.

On this episode of Deeper Shade of Green, NYSERDA CEO Doreen Harris explains the state's energy plan. She covers the strategy and some of the challenges to guide the power sector forward. Harris also offers information about what people can do for efficiency and sustainability in homes and businesses.

Music for episode 10 of Deeper Shade of Green comes from the Syracuse-based Jazz group E.S.P., the song is Reach.
