When the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding, it eliminated the legal basis for numerous environmental regulations. The court ruling was the basis for considering dangers to health when regulating vehicle exhaust, factory or power plant emissions, or other harms. The Environmental Defense Fund estimates that if these restrictions ease or end, billions of tons of greenhouse gases will be emitted, thousands more people will die prematurely from respiratory illnesses, and people will pay perhaps a trillion dollars more for energy.
On this episode of Deeper Shade of Green, EDF Associate Vice President and Counsel for Clean Air Strategies Peter Zalzal tells us how the group is fighting back in court. He explains where the decision goes against court rulings and the EPA's mission. And we'll cover the potential harms and reactions to the monumental decision.
