Following an 81-70 win against Cornell at the JMA Wireless Dome on Tuesday night, Syracuse men's basketball (6-3, 0-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference) hits the road to take on Georgetown (5-3, 0-0 in Big East Conference).

Syracuse edged Cornell earlier this week thanks to 28 points from point guard Judah Mintz. The sophomore made a career-high five three points in the win against The Big Red.

“I put in a lot of work into my shot this offseason,” Mintz said. “My teammates trusting me and my coach trusting me makes it all better.”

Mintz is shooting over 45% from three this year. Last season the guard barely shot over 30% from beyond the arc.

“Having a point guard that's not able to hit threes can make it hard on your teammates,” Mintz said. “I think that's one thing we struggled with last year. Once I started hitting three at the end of the season our offense got a little better as well. I think that's just a big part of being a point guard”.

While Mintz led the way, Syracuse got a boost from guards Justin Taylor and Chris Bell. The two combined for 34 points and drained 8 triples. As a team, Syracuse attempted 32 three-pointers and made 13 of them.

“We had the right guys shooting them”, said head coach Adrian Autry. “Chris Bell 5-for-10, Judah was hot today 5-for-7, Justin Taylor 3-for-8. So we’ll take those.”

Syracuse hopes to continue its hot shooting against its oldest rivals Georgetown. This will be the 99th meeting between the old Big East rivals. Syracuse won last year's matchup back in the 315. However, the Orange have lost the last four meetings against the Hoyas in DC.

Georgetown is coming off a one-point loss to TCU last Saturday. So far this season, Ed Cooley’s bunch has given up just under 73 points a contest which ranks second worst in the Big East.
