Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh says he’s confident the law is on the city’s side as the future of the Columbus monument awaits a judge’s decision. Supporters of relocating the monument held a vigil Thursday ahead of a court hearing. Walsh says the city has been very careful to follow the process to legally relocate the monument.

Plans are moving forward for Heritage Park in Syracuse to tell the stories of all the ethnic groups that contributed to the city's history and make-up. Officials say the park, encompassing what is now Columbus Circle and an adjacent parcel, will go forward with or without removal of the controversial Columbus Statue there. Community input sought to help plan the park and its features.
