Housing shortage

The houses that may have had hope for renovation are usually beyond repair after a fire, and need to be demolished. But in some cases, new homes can't be built on the empty lots because they're too narrow to meet city zoning requirements.

Clear Investment of Chicago bought the Skyline and Vincent apartment complexes over two years ago, but there's been little work done to address code violations and make them suitable for new renters.

The move by Councilor-at-large Rasheada Caldwell at Monday's session automatically removed the measure from the agenda. It could return at a later date.
