The Syracuse Orange (16-13, 9-9 Atlantic Coast) have essentially kissed their NCAA Tournament hopes good bye, barring a miracle run in the ACC Tournament next week. On Saturday, Syracuse fell 92-79 to the struggling North Carolina Tar Heels, who at 12-17, reside in the basement of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

As the 2019-2020 college basketball regular season draws to a close, Syracuse (14-11, 7-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) finds themselves in a very familiar position: fighting for relevance on the NCAA Tournament bubble. As of January 25, the Orange had won five straight conference games, including road wins at Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. They were 13-7 with a chunk of quality wins under their belt, and the offense was clicking. The next five games did not bring nearly as much good fortune. Three weeks, and a 1-4 skid later, Syracuse's tournament chances have plummeted.

On Saturday, February 1, the Syracuse Orange (13-9, 6-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) welcomed the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils (18-3, 8-2) to the Carrier Dome in their only matchup of the 2019-2020 regular season. The Blue Devils have gotten the better of the Orange since becoming members of the same conference, but by the slimmest of margins, winning five of nine regular season matchups.

As we approach the halfway point of the 2019-2020 college basketball season, the output from Syracuse basketball leaves much to be desired. Sitting at 8-7, with a dismal 1-3 Atlantic Coast record, with the most difficult part of their schedule just ahead, Syracuse does not have much to look forward to either. On Saturday at 4:00, the Orange will take on the No. 18 Virginia Cavaliers (11-3, 3-1) in Charlottesville in a rematch of the 2019-20 season opener.

Syracuse got run all over by Cam Akers last week, to the tune of 145 yards and 4 touchdowns. This week against Boston College, things don't get any easier against AJ Dillon. Dillon is the only 1,000 yard rusher in the ACC. Hosts Brendan Mortensen and Owen Valentine are joined by JD Raucci to discuss SU's defensive struggles last week, and if the Orange can turn things around against the Eagles.

As the 2019 College Football season reaches its halfway point, the Syracuse Orange (3-3, 0-2), have many questions left to answer.

Which Tommy DeVito can we count on going forward, the healthy one who racked up nearly 400 total yards and five touchdowns against Western Michigan, or the injury-prone one who has a 12:5 touchdown to interception ratio and two costly red zone picks?

The ACC  didn't fare so well in the Men's College Basketball Elite Eight this past weekend. That being said the ACC is still a powerhouse of a conference in men's lacrosse. It boasts teams such as Virignia, Syracuse, and Duke, all ranked in the Top 20. This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast, Tim Leonard looks at the conference as a whole and how it stacks up across the rest of Division One lacrosse.

Also this week, they don't call them the 'cardiac cuse' for no reason. Syracuse Men's Lacrosse has been clutch in the finals minutes this season.  WAER's Jonathan Hoppe has the story behind SU's late game success.

It’s tough to put a 26-point loss in the rear-view mirror, especially one where your team was winning at halftime. That is exactly what the Orange (19-11,10-7) have to do this Saturday against the Clemson Tigers (18-12, 8,9) in both teams’ regular season finales.

The Orange has already taken down the Tigers this season. Forward Elijah Hughes led Syracuse with 14 points in the team’s 61-53 win over Clemson in the Carrier Dome. ‘Cuse followed up that January 9th win by losing to Georgia Tech three days later.

After a week of uncertainty and emotion, Saturday finally arrived, as did 35,642 faithful Orange fans. On Wednesday, it was reported that Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim struck and killed a pedestrian with his car. It was unclear if he would resume his coaching duties on Saturday, but Syracuse University Athletic Director John Wildhack announced that Boeheim would coach against the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils on Saturday.

Syracuse University Men's Lacrosse has a history of being a dominant force in college lacrosse. If they want to keep that claim this year they'll need susbstantial leadership from their team of captains. This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast, Jonah Karp explains that this year's captains have a interesting blend of old and new.

Also this week, Boston College might not impress you in the landscape of  ACC Men's Baskteball, but it hasn't always been that way. WAER's Tim Leonard reminds us that BC used to be a force in the conference and explain their plan to return to that state.
