Governor Cuomo all but ignored his primary opponent during a campaign rally Monday in Syracuse, and instead continued to rail against the Trump administration.  It was part of a final swing across upstate New York ahead of Thursday's primary against actress and activist Cynthia Nixon.

  There are three weeks until primary day in New York, and the Democratic underdog for governor, Cynthia Nixon, is laying out her plans for the final stretch of campaigning, saying there is a potential path to victory.

It’s no secret what the main tactic will be for Republican Governor’s candidate Marc Molinaro this year.  During a visit in Syracuse Thursday, he raised numerous examples, linking Andrew Cuomo with ethics problems and corruption.  The question remains whether that can unseat the two-term governor.

Former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has decided to run for New York Governor after all.  The New York Times was first to report her independent campaign on Monday.  Since last fall, Miner had said she was mulling a run for governor or Congress but hadn't made a decision.

Governor Cuomo says the anti sexual harassment  policies enacted in the state budget are among the strongest in the nation, but his political rivals say the governor has not done enough to respond to allegations of sexual harassment in his own administration.

Cuomo, in his speech at last month’s state Democratic Party convention, contrasted New York’s newest policy to prevent sexual harassment to the lack of action in Washington, where he says “the silence is deafening”.

Cynthia Nixon Talks Immigration at Campaign Stop in Syracuse

Democratic challenger for Governor Cynthia Nixon visited Syracuse Thursday, campaigning on an issue for which Governor Cuomo just made headlines. Nixon said efforts to protect immigrants and undocumented workers don’t go far enough.

Cuomo recently banned Immigration Enforcement from state buildings unless they have a warrant. Nixon said she would go further, keeping federal agents out of courts, to prevent immigrants from being arrested and deported from unrelated court proceedings.

Democratic candidate for governor Cynthia Nixon outlined her plans for legalizing marijuana in New York in a video, saying the state lags far behind some other states. Governor Cuomo says he’s studying the issue.

Nixon, who is challenging Cuomo in a Democratic primary, says New York should follow the lead of eight other states and end a “key front” in what she says is the  “racist” war on drugs.

Two warring factions of Democrats in the State Senate are rejoining forces, as pressure has mounted from the party’s left leaning base for a reunification. But the Democrats are still one vote short of the 32 seats they need to regain the majority the Senate.

The nearly decade long split between the mainstream Democrats in the Senate and the Independent Democratic Conference is over.

Another candidate has announced they will challenge Andrew Cuomo for Governor. This time it’s Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who offered a political indictment of Cuomo’s practices and temperament in office.

Actor and public education advocate Cynthia Nixon announced her campaign for governor of New York  Monday. She wants to run in a Democratic primary against incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo. 

Nixon made her announcement in a video that shows her with her wife and children in her home, and on the streets of New York, taking her child to school and riding the subway. 

New York is my home,” Nixon said in the video, saying she grew up with her mom, a single mother, in a fifth floor walkup.
