White Lies

White Lies is a special seven-part radio series that brings the stories from the groundbreaking investigative podcast to radio audiences.

This special project from NPR's Investigations Team tells the story of one of the most significant unsolved murders of the Civil Rights era. In 1965, Rev. James Reeb was murdered in Selma, Alabama. Three men were tried and acquitted, but no one was ever held to account. Fifty years later, two journalists from Alabama return to the city where the murder took place, expose the lies that kept it from being solved, and uncover a story about guilt and memory that says as much about America today as it does about the past.

Hosted by Morning Edition's Noel King and reported by Alabama journalists Andrew Beck Grace and Chip Brantley, White Lies dispels the myths and mistruths that have grown up around the story for the past five decades.

Hear White Lies Fridays at 2pm on 88.3 FM , WAER, starting October 11th.
