Charles Garland will be the next representative of Onondaga County's 16th district.
Garland received about 65% of the vote over Vernon Williams Jr. Williams was the incumbent, but was defeated by Garland in the democratic primary earlier this year. Williams then ran on the Working Families Party line.
In a Facebook post, Williams said he will remain "a strong voice and advocate for the Southside community." He added that he reached out to Garland to congratulate him on his win.
