U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announces her plans for the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act of 2022 in Syracuse.

You can hear claps echoing in the audience as U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand touted her efforts to expand manufacturing in Central New York. Her new bill would fund upgrades at facilities and cover job training programs.

“The best way to build our economy is to build it here in America,” Gillibrand said. “It will help create good family-supporting manufacturing jobs and stabilize our national supply chain and our local economies.”

Gillibrand visited Syracuse to announce her plans to assist local businesses and manufacturers.

Here in Central New York, the head of the local manufacturer’s association, Randy Wolken said the legislation would bring a fiscal boost.

“And help create good-paying and more of those jobs,” Wolken added.

It will also benefit consumers everywhere.

“It will strengthen the domestic supply, so we don’t have to empty shelves,” Wolken said.

Gillibrand said the bill is an investment in the American worker.

“I know we have the innovative spirit, entrepreneur drive, and dedication we need to build that future right here in New York,” Gillibrand added.

The bill is co-sponsored by the Republicans and Democrats. It’s known as the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act.
