Travelers through Syracuse’s Hancock International Airport will need to wear masks after a statement from the Transportation Security Administration.

Security officials who oversee the airport confirm that masks need to be worn both in the terminal and on planes at least through May 3rd.

Over the next few weeks, the CDC will monitor how the recent surge in cases of the Omicron COVID variant and the BA.2 strain are impacting severe disease and hospitalizations.

The mask-mandate continuation extends the original order 15 days. It follows an increase in the seven-day average of COVID cases.
