Syracuse school board officials are looking for help finding the district's next superintendent as its current leader is due to step down at the end of the school year.
Syracuse City School District Superintendent Jaime Alicea announced his retirement in March after six years in the role. Now the Board of Education is is seeking a consultant for the search.
Commissioners will be calling for proposals by later this month. The plan is for a consultant to interview board members, community reps, and other stakeholders to identify the district’s strengths and challenges.
The consultant will recruit applicants based on those conversations, and the community will hear from the final candidates at a public meeting.
The board has not issued a timeline on when they hope to have someone in the role. Alicea is due to step down by June 30.
