Governor Kathy Hochul has released more details about her Extreme Heat Action Plan to help the State’s most vulnerable communities who are disproportionately impacted.

More than 20 State agencies such as New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NSYSERDA) are working on it.

The recommendations so far include expanding the availability of cooling centers and shelters with potential partners and the addition of public cooling centers.

Other suggestions include improving alert systems when there will be extreme heat and high humidity and expand existing energy efficiency and weatherization and Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).
