After a request from the city residents at a public hearing in late August, Syracuse Common Councilors voted Thursday to extend the public comment period for the Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement, or DGEIS, regarding the city’s zoning overhaul.

The comment period was previously set to close Friday, but will now be open until Oct. 2. Comments made on the DGEIS will be addressed in the Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement.

ReZone Syracuse would be the first comprehensive update to the city’s zoning laws in over 50 years.
