A Republican congressmember from the Central New York region and the state's Democratic governor shared opposing views on President Joe Biden's Tuesday nigh State of the Union address.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, a Republican representing parts of central and western New York, was highlt critical of the president's remarks.

"President Biden once again tried to take a victory lap despite the endless crises caused by his administration," Tenney said a statement.

Tenney went on to detail her opinion of the "disastrous presidency," saying Biden is to blame for increasing homicide rates, illegal crossings at the southern border, and rising inflation. She concluded her statement with promises to hold the bureaucracy accountable for their actions against the American people.

In contrast, Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul issued a statement commending the Biden administration for its achievements. She noted the success of the Inflation Reduction Act, which she said "is creating green jobs while fighting the climate crisis."

Hochul also highlighted the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors and Science Act, or CHIPS and Science Act, for growing innovation and attracting companies like Micron to the area.

Lastly, she commended the president's efforts toward the gun violence crisis and the affordability of child care and housing, all endeavors that will make New York and the country "more affordable, more livable and safer."
