This weekend the SUNY School of Environmental Science and Forestry is inviting guests to Tully to get syrup right off of the trees.

The event is part of the statewide Maple Weekend, where farms across the state are opening their sugar houses to the public.

This Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., SUNY ESF will offer hikes and tours in Heiberg Memorial Forest. Robert MacGregor, the Director of Forest Properties, said it’s a chance for residents to get syrup straight from the source.

“We sell mostly to the public at this maple weekend which is coming up, where people can bring their own vessels and we'll fill ‘em up right there," MacGregor said.

SUNY ESF encouraged visitors to bring their own canning jars to reduce plastic.
