The Refugee and Immigrant Self Empowerment’s Night of Nations will be held in person for the first time in four years.

The Night of Nations is RISE's biggest fundraiser. Joseph Alfieri is helping to organize this year’s event. He said the money raised helps to finance a variety of outreach projects.

“They provide case management and care management for refugees, new Americans in our community," Alfieri said. "They provide educational services to school-aged children. They have an agricultural program.”

Alfieri was co-chair of last year’s Night of Nations when it was held virtually.

He said returning to an in-person format is something everyone is looking forward to after the last few years online.

“It’s just not the same, you know? Not the same as getting folks together for a gala-type event in a beautiful new building on campus. We’re just really excited about it,” Alfieri said.

That new building is the Daniel and Gayle D'aniello building on Waverly Avenue, which is home to Syracuse University’s National Veteran’s Resource Center.

“Because of its design and construction of that facility, it was intended to be used for events like this," Alfieri explained. "So, we’re gonna be able to take advantage of the large atrium at the entryway for pre-function events.”

Night of Nations will be held on April 27 and starts at 5:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets and find more information on the night on RISE's website.

Editor's note: WAER is media sponsor of the Night of Nations event.
