President Joe Biden is expected to visit Central New York Thursday to announce federal incentives from the CHIPs and Science act for the huge Micron microchip plant slated to be built in Clay.

Biden’s visit to Central New York tomorrow will affect traffic in and around Syracuse. Biden is expected to announce an agreement on federal incentives for the huge Micron microchip manufacturing project. Portions of Franklin street, as well as Waltn and Jefferson in the Armory Square area will be shut down starting at 10:00 p.m. tonight. Foot traffic will not be closed off and business are expected to remain open during the visit.

President Biden will be met with protestors concerned about the impact of war on Palestinians in Gaza when he visits Syracuse tomorrow. Members of several groups, including Christians for a Free Palestine, The Syracuse Peace Council, Jewish voice for Peace, and Faculty for Justice in Palestine at Syracuse University plan a demonstration and have sent a letter to Biden. In a release, they say they want an immediate cease fire … and for the President to use his power to stop slaughter and preserve human rights.
