Everson Museum celebrates 39th Festival of Trees

There’s a real art to decorating Christmas trees. It’s the main reason the 39th annual “Festival of Trees” is drawing in visitors. The annual fundraiser that mixes holiday trees with existing art on display.

As if the Everson’s grand spiral staircase isn’t eye catching enough, visitors instantly can’t miss a roughly 40 foot Christmas tree all decked out when they walk in. In fact, there’s more than 40 trees, so it seems there’s a tree everywhere you look.

“All these trees are donated to us so we've got people, businesses, individuals that that we make a call out to every year and they get creative and put together a tree.”

Tricase said the holiday display is always one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the museum.

“People don't realize when they come that all these trees are for sale and the proceeds go right back to the museum to help us find our exhibitions and our learning engagement. And get out there and do more outreach for the community and make sure that more accessible for the Central New York community.”

“The Stickley would probably be the most expensive tree. That went for around $1,500 and we’ve got a real tall tree here that’s priced at 1,500. But, there’s a wide variety of trees here available,” Tricase said.

The Everson also has wreaths and lower-priced holiday items. If you haven’t been to see the “Festival of Trees,” the event will run through Sunday, December 15th this week including later hours Thursday and Friday night.
