The number of people using marijuana continues to grow. The New York Department of Health reports that in 2023, almost 15% of adults had used marijuana over the past 30 days, a 2% increase from 2020.

Most users prefer smoking, and over half say they use it for non-medical reasons.

The report also found that:

  • 62% of users said they smoked marijuana
  • 18% preferred edibles
  • 55% said they used it for non-medical reasons
  • 78% of users were between the ages of 18 and 34

The data reflects growing marijuana use across the state as legalization and access continue to expand.
