The Robinson Pavilion at Anyela's Vineyard is one of the signature venues for Skaneateles Festival concerts.

The jewel of the finger lakes finishes up one of the jewels of its summer schedule Friday and Saturday, August 22nd & 23rd. The Skaneateles Festival comes to a close, wrapping up its 4-week concert series.

The annual music event highlights classical music, kids concerts and original compositions. This year they celebrated the natural environment with a special theme.

“'Listen to the wind,' where we’re really celebrating the natural beauty of our area, of Skaneateles Lake, of the lakes surrounding us. And also thinking about how we can take care of all these resources and preserve them for the generations to come,” said Artistic Director Julie Buskin.

The Skaneateles Festival wraps up with three concerts in the final weekend.

  • Friday Night, Aug. 22: Keep Calm and Carry On, with a theme meant to calm those anxious about the times we’re in. It features British music from Benjamin Britton, the Beatles and others.
7:30 pm @ First Presbyterian Church in Skaneateles
  • Saturday, Aug 23: KidsFest with Moonstrike and the Jasper Quartet, with songs and stories about nature and Native American storytelling.
11:00 am @ Balitmore Woods Nature Center
  • Saturday Night, Aug 23: The Bill Charlap Trio. The grammy-winning pianist features classic jazz and the American Songbook.
    8:00 pm @ Anyela’s Vineyard.

Organizers said ticket sales, sponsorships and donations go to the musicians and the free shows for children and other communities.

Buskin said they’re already starting to plan for next year’s Skaneateles Festival, with an eye on the 50th anniversary of the event in 4 years.
