Residents who want to relocate away from the I-81 Viaduct Project are eligible for housing vouchers. The Syracuse Housing Authority says it has $5 million in vouchers for those who live closest to the viaduct and want to move away from the construction.

The authority says it is trying to give families flexibility and stability. It plans to meet with residents in the area and has established a dedicated phone line as a central contact.

SHA said staff are going door-to-door in housing communities closest to the construction that’s part of the Connective Corridor project.

The Authority said some households might be wait-listed depending on how many of the residents near the construction decline the vouchers. The group added most vouchers would be for housing elsewhere int eh city, but would work with tenants on housing options elsewhere in Onondaga County.
