Syracuse and other healthcare cost spikes ammunition in government shutdown battle

Senator Chuck Schumer is using healthcare costs in Syracuse and elsewhere in New York to make his case for a compromise to end the government shutdown. Schumer shared estimates a family medical plan from Fidelis and Excellus would cost if health insurance subsidies aren't continued.

The monthly changes take into account increases in the cost of policies, as well as the cancellation of financial help from Obama-care. Continuing those subsidies is a key concession democrats want to end the shutdown.
