New York is accepting applications from municipalities for electric vehicles and charging stations. $5 million can be used for charging infrastructure and $585,000 is available to pay for vehicles.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says the payment will be made in the form of a rebate. It adds with federal tax credits disappearing, the state will likely have to pay for such projects. Recently an audit by the state comptroller indicated that New York’s efforts to install charging stations has fallen short of its goals.
