After years of discussion, debate, financial incentives and permits, the Micron Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility will finally break ground. The event will take place at 1:00 pm, January 16th at one at the sites of the chip-making facility in Clay.

A celebration will follow at the Syracuse University National Veterans Resource Center from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.

The company says it plans to build 4 mega-fabrication plants for an estimated $100-billion investment over two decades. It would be the largest semiconductor manufacturing facility in the country.

Micron will focus on advanced memory manufacturing for A-I systems. It’s expected to generate thousands of jobs.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon hailed the announcement as the realization of a dream. "This project went from a Vision we had for White Pines Business Park to an Historic Announcement, and now with the environmental review and permits set, a massive Construction Project. "The CNY Semiconductor Cluster is happening!!!! [sic]," he said.
