Syracuse's new Vision Zero Coordinator Meghan Vitale

A long-time transportation planner is joining Syracuse City Hall to help with the city’s efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and improve safety.

Mayor Sharon Owens appointed Meghan Vitale as the city’s first Vision Zero Coordinator within the Department of Public Works. The program oversees project planning and design focused primarily on pedestrian and bike lane safety.

Vitale served various roles at the Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Council for nearly 20 years. She’ll apply that experience to coordinate across city departments, pursue grant funding, and lead community engagement efforts.
