The number of completed home sales rose in February. The Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors says Central New York home sales increased by two percent when compared to the same month last year. The association credits February’s decline in mortgage rates for the increased sales.

For the first time in nearly two years, the median sales price of homes dipped compared to the same month last year. The average price was $220,000, also down from last year. Although mortgage rates have risen again, the realtors association is still predicting an active spring market, noting that there’s a 25 percent increase in available homes compared to this time last year.
