New York State residents overpaid $265 million fueling their cars and SUVs since the U.S. led war in Iran began. That is according to a Congressional report released April 2nd. It also found that families across the U.S. paid a combined $8.4 billion or 35% more in March.
“Trump started a war in Iran with no clear plan or strategy, and now New Yorkers are stuck paying the price at the gas pump,” said New York Senator and Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“The Trump administration doesn’t even pretend to care, saying, ‘If they rise, they rise.’ Meanwhile, our families, farmers, and small businesses all get forced to spend millions more on gas.”
Schumer called the war in Iran senseless and pointed out that President Trump has contradicted his campaign promise to lower gas prices under $2 dollars a gallon.
