Electric and gas meters haven't been friendly to many CNY residents

Residents struggling with ever-climbing utility bills could find help paying them at two seminars coming up in Central New York.

The Public Utility Law Project, along with State Senator Chris Ryan, is hosting the sessions to explain eligibility. People will be able to check if they’re signed up for savings programs, get information about bill assistance, and learn about efficiency measures to lower costs long-term.

“Too many families across Central New York are struggling to keep up with rising utility costs,” said Ryan. “These clinics are about meeting people where they are and making sure they’re connected to every available resource to lower their bills, improve energy efficiency, and keep their homes safe and warm."

National Grid representatives will be at each meeting. Residents can ask questions about their bill, as well as examine options such as budget billing and payment programs for large balances. The same information will be presented at each meeting.

Clinics will be held:

  • May 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Syracuse
5655 Thompson Rd, Syracuse, NY 13214
  • June 10 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial
    609 W Broadway, Fulton, NY 13069
