Average gas price drops this week in Syracuse

The steady climb in gas prices for Syracuse motorists finally eased this past week.

Gas prices fell just around a penny per gallon… but that reversed two months of price hikes. Analysts at Gas Buddy set the average at $4.14 per gallon, and said news of a ceasefire in the war with Iran reduced pressure on oil prices.

But AAA sources said pump prices rise quickly due to changes in world markets, while they fall more slowly. Both analysts expressed concerns that recent hostile actions by the U.S. against an Iranian cargoship will continue to make prices volatile.

The $4.14 per gallon local average compares to $3.00 a year ago. The state average price per gallon is $4.11, with the national average slightly lower at $4.05 per gallon.
