Bowling nights are an example of ways ARC Madison Cortland enrich the lives of clients with developmental disabilities. A new grant will support such activities.

An organization that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cortland and Madison Counties is getting special state support for advocacy and recreation to help clients.

ARC Madison Cortland received $29,050 to cover guardianship services. The agency provides legal support and advocacy to people who might not otherwise have a legal guardian.

ARC Madison Cortland was also awarded $18,732 to support recreational activities. ARC will use the funds to take clients to Lights on the Lake, picnics, dances, a Holiday Blast party and other events. Officials said such events help build community engagement and personal growth for the more than 1500 people they serve.

The money came from New York State ARC trust services.
