A sign reads "Road Work Ahead" on a street.

Drivers using a busy but short stretch of I-481 southbound in DeWitt face an overnight detour Thursday and Friday.

The state DOT is closing the highway between the I-690 exit to Syracuse and the I-690 eastbound on-ramp to I-481 south from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead sign work.

The detour takes drivers to Bridge Street then back to I-690 and I-481.
