Hochul says residents should take precautions to keep cool and safe, especially those working outside or inside without air-conditioning.

Governor Kathy Hochul is warning residents to be mindful of the extreme heat expected across the state and in Central New York. The National Weather Service is calling for a heat index of 95 and above in most of the region. Hochul says residents should take precautions to keep cool and safe, especially those working outside or inside without air-conditioning. Entry fees to pools at state parks this summer have been waived. The Governor says everyone can be impacted by the heat and especially those 60 and older, pregnant women, infants and children… and those with physical and cognitive disabilities. Income-eligible residents may qualify for a free air-conditioning unit through the Home Energy Assistance Program or the Onondaga County Office for Aging.
