Low- and moderate-income families in Central New York could see a check in the mail soon. That’s after Governor Kathy Hochul announced that New York State is issuing $350 million in supplemental payments through the Empire State Child Credit program.
More than one million families will receive up to $330 per child, with checks expected to arrive over the next two weeks. The financial aid boost aims to assist with back-to-school expenses and address the cost of living for working parents.
To qualify, families must have received at least $100 from the Empire State Child Credit in 2023 and filed their state tax return by April 15, 2024.
