The Syracuse city school district is getting a $100,000 from the state to hire a Farm to School Project Coordinator. The program helps school districts connect with local farmers to add locally grown food in school menus.

State Agriculture leaders say it improves students' health while giving an economic benefit to farmers.

Attica school district in the Finger Lakes is also getting a $100,000 for harvesting and storing local foods and expanding an educational program where students grow and prepare food.
