As temperatures drop, some in Central New York are fearing upcoming utility bills more than winter itself.

November 1, New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) will start accepting applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program or HEAP.

The program provides eligible households with weatherization and helps with energy costs until March 17th or until funds run out.

Customers enrolled in HEAP are automatically enrolled in the Energy Assistance Program, which offers a monthly bill credit. More information is available here.
