New York law bans retail sales of dogs, cats, and rabbits starting December 15

A charming, animated-style illustration featuring a group of animals: a dog, a cat, and a rabbit. The animals are depicted with slightly realistic features, yet maintain a whimsical and friendly appearance. The dog has a soft, brown coat and expressive eyes, the cat is sleek with a gentle expression, and the rabbit is fluffy with a natural white color. They are all gathered together in a peaceful, outdoor setting, surrounded by lush greenery and soft sunlight, evoking a sense of harmony and care.

New York's new law aims to protect pets by banning the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from puppy mills, ensuring a healthier and happier future for our furry friends.

Retailers in New York will soon have to stop selling dogs, cats, and rabbits. A new law aimed at stopping so-called puppy mills goes into effect on December 15.

Experts say such animals are often mistreated and suffer from serious health issues. Attorney General Letitia James says her office is ready to defend The Puppy Mill Pipeline Act which includes a thousand dollar fine per violation.

She says people may still buy or adopt from humane societies, animal rescues, or licensed breeders.
