Syracuse city schoolchildren from 8 to 12 years old can get help with reading though the city’s Police Athletic League. Sign-ups for the program are now underway.

PAL officials say they engage kids in fun ways by merging sports into activities that incorporate reading and writing skills. Director of Community Engagement Jimmy Oliver adds the Literacy League is meant to address the proficiency gap that can help youth succeed for academic and lifelong success.
