Govenor Hochul launches effort to recruit displaced federal workforce

Governor Kathy Hochul has launched the "You’re Hired" initiative to find people interested in working for New York state. Hochul is targeting recently laid-off federal workers to fill a range of positions in New York. She says the state offers good pay and a stable workforce. The state has a new web portal online.

"The federal government might say, 'You’re fired,' but here in New York, we say, 'You’re hired.' Whatever your skills, we value public service. Check out potential jobs at NY-dot-gov-forward slash…we want you. Come join our New York State family," Governor Hochul said.

The initiative comes as the Department of Government Efficiency seeks to lay off thousands of workers within the federal government to eliminate wasteful spending.

To support the effort, the state has launched a new web portal, providing job listings, career resources, and guidance for federal employees interested in transitioning to state service. Hochul also released a video message encouraging federal workers to apply.
