Karen DeWitt honored with lifetime achievement award

Veteran journalist Karen DeWitt, who covered New York politics and government for nearly 40 years, is receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Radio Television Digital News Association First Amendment Awards in Washington.

The Albany Times Union reports she will be honored alongside NPR’s Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep and 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl.

DeWitt joined the New York State Public Radio Capitol Bureau in 1990, covering six governors before retiring last summer. Her reports aired on stations across the state for nearly three decades.
